Kill Bill
Thursday, May 22
We headed to Kappabashi, the restaurant supply district, to look at more restaurant and related ware, and came back with more stuff. Always an interesting area full of kitchen and house wares of all kinds. Headed to an old udon place for lunch, where you open the screen door and it feels like you’ve gone back around 100 years and very rustic with an old man, most likely the owner, with no English coming to greet you and take your order. We weren’t sure what we would end up with but loved in particular the handmade udon noodles and vegetables. In the evening, we went to a spectacular casual restaurant nearby called “Gonpachi “, which focuses on grilled foods, is open to at least 5 am in the morning and the foreigners seem to love. This is also the place were some scenes from Kill Bill were shot, a bonus for Dave who is a big fan of those movies.
