Sweet ending...
Monday, October 30
In the morning, we visited one of my favourite stores in the city called Minamoto Kitchen (http://www.kitchoan.com) in the Rockefeller Plaza area (608 Fifth Avenue at W49th Street)
The shop specializes in "wagashi" or Japanese confectionery from Japan that is beautiful, delicate and delicious, with special delicacies made according to the seasons, and is often served with a cup of hot green tea. The confectionery contains a lot of healthful ingredients such as azuki beans, kidney beans, sweet potatoes, sesame, and agar-agar (natural gelatin), and uses natural unrefined sugars and almost no animal fats. We rushed back to our loft with a good amount of samples to enjoy on our trip back to Ottawa and at home, though it was questionable whether some would actually make it back home.
When we started our trip, we had a long list of restaurants, cafes, bars, products, stores and other sites to visit, and we made a big dent in the list but there still so much more to explore and taste, so we will just have to return to the Big Apple soon....
