In a pickle...
Sunday, September 17...
Was going to clean and organize and other good intentions but when I was called about going to a Pickle Festival on the Lower East Side how could I resist? So back to the East Village, love that neighbourhood, for the Sixth Annual NYC International Pickle Day on Orchard Street between Grand and Broome. So there was the history and science of pickles and picklemaking and tastings of pickled items from a variety of countries and of course "The Pickle Guys" of 49 Essex Street were giving out whole pickles, of different kinds, from barrels and encouraging people to visit their pickle school with over 50 types of pickles they say and other pickled items.
Then to change our palates to something sweet we went to Babycakes at 248 Broome that is a really cute bakery in the style of the 50s that is a fully organic, natural bakery with "gentle treats for delicate tummies"they say... www.babycakesnyc.com
Then wondered around East Village, Greenwich Village, and the NYU area before heading home...
