One last improvisation class..
Today we had further lectures on nutrition and have an exam on Thursday.
In the afternoon we had Improv 3, the last one, which was not graded so we could be as experimental as we wanted. We decided to have a battle of the sexes and had two hours to plan and create a three course gourmet meal with the ingredients available. Our team created an endive salad with pomegrante and grilled pears with a citrus vinaigrette, a Provencal style lentil stew topped with flash fried oyster mushrooms (I made this) with black rice and quinoa, roasted brussel sprouts and sauteed greens, and the dessert was a sweet potato pudding with an orange sauce and maple pecans. Everything turned out quite well, though it's always a bit stressful to prepare something you have a limited idea how to do within a short amount of time, and with no available resources like cook books and the web. Also working with a new team always has its different personalities and dynamics. The main thing is that the dishes turned out quite well and it demonstrated to us how much we've learned, and confidence gained, since we started last September, and that is exciting.
